there’s sound in the lab.

Three very special scientists are the guides to a trip inside a bizarre laboratory, where the music can come at any moment and in many different ways. Passing through various experiences, some very handmade and others much more technological, the public is invited to dive into a universe where sounds come to life. The three scientists are in an ongoing research, trying to find answers to such serious questions as ‘can sounds fall in love with one another?’, ‘or are they just friends?’, ‘do you have a favourite sound and if so, what colour is it?’, ‘can you catch a sound and if so, what do you do with it?’ and ‘can we vibrate in sympathy with the sound?’

“There’s Sound in the Lab.” was born out of a challenge proposed by Madalena Wallenstein, coordinator of Fábrica das Artes at CCB Lisbon, in 2009. The challenge was to create a workshop of discovery and experimentation of sound. With high sensibility three performers embraced the challenge and in a scientist’s role they created a great interactive workshop which is taking place inside a sound laboratory. Having past three years with a lot of experimentation, maturity and great feedback from the public, the trio of scientists continued to develop their work. Premiere in May 2012 in CCB, a new version of “There’s Sound in the Lab.” will be born, where music, performing arts and interaction with the public are the essential elements. Looking forward to see you in “There’s Sound in the Lab.”!
